motionball is proud to donate 70% of the funds raised from this event to Special Olympics Alberta. This funding is directed to support programs for local athletes in the community. 25% is directed to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation, whose mission is to ensure the long-term financial integrity of the Special Olympics movement in Canada and to fund long term athlete and volunteer growth. The remaining 5% will help grow the #NoGoodWay Campaign aiming to end the use of the R-word (retard) in everyday conversation. motionball Marathon of Sport Corporate Challenge

motionball Marathon of Sport Corporate Challenge

What is the Corporate Challenge?

This new initiative allows you and your colleagues to stay active at the office or at home in support of Special Olympics athletes across Canada. Just choose your activity goal & time frame, then challenge your team to log physical activity leading up the virtual event on our free platform.  Your team will be paired with a local Special Olympics athlete who will be helping you reach your goal, and providing inspiration.

On September 26th, all of your employees and their families can tune in to the Marathon of Sport broadcast  – a 1 hour sport and fitness challenge hosted by Olympic Gold medalist Tessa Virtue and her sport celebrity friends. Your team can follow along at home, or in person with colleagues, friends, or family.

How does the Corporate Challenge work?

motionball will work with you to determine your company’s activity goal, based on how many employees you would like to engage, how long you would like them to log activity for, etc. All activity will be logged on motionball’s easy to use online platform. The goal for activity can also be set up as a factor of the donation the company is making. For example: For every minute of activity logged by YOUR COMPANY employees from X date to X date, YOUR COMPANY donates $X  to motionball, up to a maximum of your choosing.

Is there a fee to participate?

There is no minimum fee to participate, and you can determine how much you would like to contribute. However, if your company would like to be recognized as an event sponsor, you can choose from a variety of sponsorship levels. All sponsors will receive logo recognition, a team starter kit, and additional benefits based on your level of sponsorship.

Do we need to fundraise?

Fundraising is completely optional. All registered participants will be provided with a personal donation link and fundraising tools automatically. All those who choose to fundraise will be eligible to earn incentives, including Under Armour gear and more.

Do we need to complete the Corporate Challenge?

The Corporate Challenge is an optional initiative to drive employee engagement amongst your staff in the weeks/months leading up to the event on September 26th. If you would like your company and employees to participate in Virtual Marathon of Sport on September 26th but do not have the capacity to complete the Corporate Challenge initiative -that is OK! You are still welcome to register as a Corporate Team

Is there a minimum number of participants required?

No! Companies can engage as many employees as they choose! This is a great way to get even MORE people involved with motionball, with no barriers to participate.

Will my team be assigned a Special Olympics athlete?

Yes! Special Olympics athletes assigned to corporate teams will participate in logging activity and help the team reach their goal. motionball will provide a photo and bio of your athlete(s), which will be on your team’s online dashboard. We encourage all of our corporate teams to connect with athletes virtually in advance and day of the event by email or video conference.

Can we play against another team or company?

Yes! We encourage friendly competition between companies and their clients, competitors, or even internally between local offices!

YOUR IMPACT

Join us in supporting Special Olympics Canada Foundation

motionball's Marathon of Sport brings athletes of all abilities together on the playing field. While fundraising is one of our goals, Marathon of Sport is about so much more.

This day not only brings awareness to the Special Olympics movement, but allows people with and without intellectual disabilities to interact, build lifelong friendships, and ultimately create more inclusive communities.

For many athletes, Special Olympics is not just about sport, or staying healthy, but also about providing a social network, a sense of belonging and a valuable source of stability – all essential to mental and physical health.

By making a donation to motionball or entering a Team to participate, you're helping to ensure that our friends at Special Olympics have the resources they need to continue the sport programs they love.

ATHLETE Ambassadors

DJ DXB's motionball mixes

Long time motionball supporter & Marathon of Sport Toronto DJ, DJ DxB, knows just how much our Special Olympics athletes love to dance – so he’s been bringing the positive vibes and created some incredible mixes so our athletes can jam out while they train for their sports programs!

We recommend that you start off your day by jamming out to these awesome tunes!

Plus – a number of the songs featured on these playlists were chosen by Special Olympics Ontario athletes, so you’re sure to have a blast!
