WHAT IS MARATHON OF SPORT?
We’re bringing athletes of all abilities together on the playing field. Teams of up to 10 will be joined by 1-2 local Special Olympics athletes and together they will participate in a variety of sports and activities all while raising funds and awareness in support of the Special Olympics Canada Foundation.
While fundraising is one of our goals, Marathon of Sport is about so much more. This day not only brings awareness to the Special Olympics movement, but allows people with and without intellectual disabilities to interact, build lifelong friendships, and ultimately create more inclusive communities.
From Sponsorship to Participation or Volunteering, there are many ways to get involved for 2024!
TEAM REGISTRATION: Join us on the field! There are 3 ways you can register to play:
Corporate: As a Corporate Team, your organization will donate $1500, waiving the $50 registration fee and inviting your employees to participate at no cost.
Standard Team: As a Standard Team, you and your teammates will each donate $50 to register and work together to reach your Team fundraising goal of $1500. Refund your registration and play for free when you reach your individual fundraising goal of $150!
Free Agents: Sign up as an Individual or with a friend and we’ll add you to a team with other incredible motionball supporters!
Included in the $50 registration, each participant will receive:
- A motionball t-shirt & hat
- Morning Coffee, Treats and a Pita Pit lunch
- A ticket to the Marathon of Sport After-Party with refreshments
- The opportunity to earn fundraising incentives
- And most importantly, a chance to play with the proud Special Olympics athletes who motionball supports!

WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS
While fundraising is one of our goals, Marathon of Sport is about so much more. #NOGOODWAY
motionball is working to promote positivity and inclusion, demonstrating that there is #NoGoodWay to use the “R-word”. This word is hurtful, outdated, and brings back memories of being bullied and excluded for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
As motionballers, we are proud ambassadors of the #NoGoodWay campaign. Learn more and take the pledge at motionball.com/nogoodway.
PAST EVENTS
motionball is proud to donate 70% of the funds raised from motionball Kingston events to Special Olympics Ontario. This funding is directed to support programs for local athletes in the community. 25% is directed to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation, whose mission is to ensure the long-term financial integrity of the Special Olympics movement in Canada and to fund long term athlete and volunteer growth. The remaining 5% will help grow the #NoGoodWay Campaign aiming to end the use of the R-word (retard) in everyday conversation. We’re encouraging Canadians to make the choice to eliminate the R-word from their vocabulary and empower them to take #NoGoodWay to their circles of influence.
motionball’s mandate is to introduce the next generation of volunteers and donors to the Special Olympics movement through integrated social and sporting events. motionball now hosts 50+ annual events in 18 cities across Canada. motionball is proud to have donated $19M to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation since our inception in 2002.
